Los Angeles African Marketplace and Faire Annual Event

Shown in pictures above courtesy African Marketplace and Cultural Faire are stage performances with music and dance, vendor booths, cultural foods sold, and beautiful clothing, jewelry and other unique items the public can purchase at this one-of-a-kind event held annually in Los Angeles.

Where in Los Angeles can you be treated musical shows by up & coming stars, soak up the rays of the sunny L.A. days, and surround your senses with cultural foods, colorful costumes, unique gift items, arts, jewelry, clothing and a variety of vendor displays? There's only one fair and one place to engage in the delightful cultural event that for over 20 years has entertained families and tourists seeking something fun to do in Southern California.

The 23rd Annual African Marketplace & Cultural Faire is a cultural festival celebrating the influence of the Pan-African diaspora. With four different stages, an Art Pavilion, Literary Village, Holistic Village, Black Inventors Museum, and the Youth Village, the entertainment never stops. A partial list of activities include a Pow-Wow, Brazilian festival, African festival, Jazz, R&B and in the youth area, carnival rides, games, ponies, entertainment, and more. Previous events have included jazz artists such as Brian McKnight and other recording artists recognized globally for their talent. The celebration usually kicks off with a Gala held the first Friday night of the event's three-week run. Call: (323) 293-1612 for gala ticket information.

One highlight of the African Marketplace is the Literary Village, hosting some of the nation's top authors with book-signings, readings and poetry recitals. A bookstore, coffee bar and music stage create the atmosphere of a literary gathering spot with guests such as California Poet Laureate Al Young and the esteemed Kenyan  writer, Ngugi Thiong ‘O.  New York Best Seller authors, social forums, and poetry competitions allow guests with an intellectual bend to participate, as well.

Held three weekends during August and through Labor Day, African Marketplace & Cultural Faire offers the perfect opportunity to begin searching for your holiday gifts early, and also have fun.
