SANTA BARBARA ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION 27th
ANNUAL TASTE OF THE TOWN
Santa Barbara, California—The
public is invited to savor the flavors at the 27th annual Taste of
the Town on Sunday, September 7, 2008, from Noon to 3 p.m. at
Riviera Park & Gardens, 2020 Alameda Padre Serra in Santa Barbara
offering stunning views of the city and coastline. More than 80
outstanding Santa Barbara County restaurants and wineries will offer
fantastic food and fabulous wines samplings. The honorary chairs for
this year’s Taste of the Town are Richard Yates and Tina Takaya,
owners of opal, one of the finest restaurants in Santa Barbara .
Returning for the second year as Guest Chef is Chris Barbato from
the world famous Commander’s Palace Restaurant in New Orleans . Chef
Barbato will be serving one of his signature New Orleans
specialties, which delighted guests last year as well.
Taste of the Town provides opportunities to sample farm fresh
produce, foods and beverages of Santa Barbara County while
supporting the local programs and services of the Arthritis
Foundation. The Foundation is the only nonprofit organization
dedicated to discovering the cause and cure for arthritis, today's
No. 1 disabling disease that affects one in every five Americans.
Advance tickets are available for $100 per person. If still
available, tickets at the door will be $125 per person. Attendance
is limited, so be sure to make reservations early by calling the

Where to stay during this
Santa Barbara event? Unfortunately, the annual event is held
around Labor Day weekend, making
Santa Barbara hotel space hard to come by for tourists on
the Saturday night before this Sunday event. However, if you can
book your hotel for Sunday night and do a stay-over, the hotels are
wide-open for booking. Other nearby cities you may have to
check out include another beach destination 30 minutes south,
Ventura, which has all sorts of hotel rooms for this weekend
vacation event.
