There must be something about the lifestyle that makes San Diego such an appealing place to launch a Hilton Hotel. The incredible climate combined with tourist numbers, and business travelers hosting conventions and other incentive vacations make this truly California's Hilton capital. We have highlighted four of our very favorites in the city, though you shouldn't overlook others that you may want to choose. These just happen to be close to the city or located within the major attraction areas, and they all have popular fan-base guests who are loyal Hilton clientele.

With at least three of the Hilton sporting bay or water views, you really have a lot of options to choose when visiting sunny Southern California's playground, don't you?

San Diego is 100% event driven, given the excellent year-round mild climate, its seaport location, beaches and commerce. So to say that one hotel is going to cost consistently less or more to stay in than the next would not be right. If there's a convention or special event, the Gaslamp Hilton might be the highest. If it's summer and a beautiful weekend at the beach awaits, you may see the Hilton Resort popularity and prices spike. Of the four Hiltons pictured, our staff had a hard time comparing apples and oranges. For pure beach escape, go with the Hilton San Diego Resort. For nightlife, pick Gaslamp Hilton first. For conventions, pick Bayfront as your first selection. And for most affordable of the four, stay at the Harbor Island Hilton. While they say it is quiet, I have stayed there and must confess that I've listened to the sound of jets that take-off starting around 7 a.m. It's really a nice hotel, nevertheless.
