Are you looking some of the best family and couples beach vacations? Foggy mists offer that special touch of romance for adults. Located on the edge of one of California's wine country regions, you can sample wines in Sonoma and Mendocino County especially. Both are part of the north coast region.

The ancient redwood trees are certainly stars in this region, dating over 2,000 years and standing taller than you can imagine. People from around the world come to visit and look at the huge trees. But the coast offers so much beauty and is a great place to nature-watch. Migrating whales, elephant seals, and all sorts of wildlife can be seen along the coast and in the wooded forests around Sonoma County's Sea Ranch area. The hotels in the region aren't so plentiful. You may find yourself without a room in the summer months if you forget to check or plan ahead. So be forewarned! Do check availability before making the long trip.
