Ocean Beach (OB)
is a popular San Diego volleyball tournament and sand play location. Overlooking
the Ocean Beach Pier, surfers, sailboats and the jetty are volleyball nets at
the crest of the sand plateau above the Pacific Ocean. There's just no better
place to enjoy a game of sand volleyball than in an intimate, friendly
atmosphere such as Ocean Beach.
The volleyball
courts are located near the north end of the beach close to the public parking
lots. First come first serve play unless there's a special tournament planned or
in progress. One of the regular competitions held at Ocean Beach is sponsored by
California Beach Volleyball Association. www.cbva.com
Coed sand - beach
volleyball competitions are held regularly for serious competitors. Head into OB
from Interstate 8 West or Sea World Drive. Head South on Sunset Cliffs
Blvd into OB. Turn RIGHT on Voltaire St. From Voltaire, go straight into
the parking lot. The sand on the south end of the parking lot (on the corner of
Brighton and Spray) is where these players meet. www.govavi.com
