Orange
County Beaches Interfaith Prayer Events - Peace Day Event
Huntington Beach--Orange County
beaches host world peace events that are held to
promote a day of religious and cultural
diversity and tolerance between races, religions
and cultures. California beaches and California
is a melting pot of cultures, languages and
religious practices and beliefs. At this
Interfaith event, the leaders of various
religions are invited to participate in a
celebration that's held around sunset. Songs,
prayers, dedications and a walk along the beach
or a pier with electric candles in hand ends
this afternoon of ceremony.
From a
Catholic priest to a Buddhist monk, the
religious leaders of the local beach communities
are invited to speak to a crowd that attends
(public invited free). Songs, hymns and spoken
words are presented. Then white doves are
released as the symbol of peace.
In the
event shown above, a Scottish bagpipe musician
played as he led a procession along a pier. He
wore his traditional Scottish plaid and kilt. A
fire was also ignited and pieces of paper with
words of hope were placed into it by the
audience. California participates in world
prayer and world peace days that are held by
various groups. Even in the fast paced,
rush-rush lifestyle many California tourists and
vacationers live, they often find good people,
help and assistance when in need. Visitors often
say that Californians, in general, seem
genuinely nice.
For those
who are so inclined, there are churches,
synagogues, temples and cathedrals available in
most major areas of California. Here's an
interesting twist--there's even a Surfer's
Chapel!
